IN RECOGNITION OF A VERY SPECIAL PERSON

» 06 December 2010 » In Uncategorized »

Her name was Carolina and she was the best grandmother in the world.

She had the ability to dislike no one and to find  beauty in the simple things in life. She was active and the healthiest 90 year old woman you ever met. She loved to take her dog for walks and to eat candies and chocolates. She was still able to remember each of her 20 grandsons, our birthdays, our worries, our occupations and our favorite desserts.

She was an exceptional woman that never complained, yet she was always there to comfort you from your mild problems.

She didn’t talk much, but she could listen to your stories for hours at a time.

My grandma used to say that she had two secrets for being so healthy at 90. One was to never let people help you too much, you should always try to do things by yourself.  The second secret was to avoid doctors as much as possible.

She firmly believed that people got sick from getting to concerned of being sick and that doctors invented your diseases so you would keep going back to them.

But I know better.

My grandma lived for so long because all the love she had for us nurtured and kept her happy every day of her life.

Last week my grandma suddenly passed away. Early in the morning she took her dog for a walk, had lunch with my aunt and then silently left this world. She didn’t have to meet one single of the doctors she disliked so much.

I will miss her very much.  She was and will always be one of my favorite persons in this world. But I won’t say goodbye because even now that she’s gone she will never leave my heart.
