The sound of your silence flows round me
A poem by John Patton as recited by John at his July 30-31 2011 homily
The sound of your silence flows round me
Like darkness at dawn turns to light
Like the sadness I feel when hope fades and flies
Into the night
You came and my world held new meaning
Like a song when it finds a new tune
Like the joy that is spied in the eyes of a child
And dies so soon
You leave and my world will be empty
Like a dream when it dies in the day
Like a song that is sung, and when it is done
Just fades away
The sound of your silence flows round me
Like darkness at dawn turns to light
Like the sadness I feel when hope fades and flies
Into the night
