In this week's Liturgy, Narelle Mullins invites us to embrace the opportunities that the Covid 19 pandemic has given many of us to be alone. It has given us the opportunity to use moments of aloneness to come home to ourselves; to pay attention to what is within; analyse what is going on; let go of attachments and make way for ethical choices that breed compassion.

This week's liturgy celebrates Saint Francis and his invitation to care for the earth, Our Common Home. Pope Francis invites us to an Ecological Conversion and to live in harmony with nature. This will require us to make serious changes to the way we live.

As we approach world day for migrants and refugees on the 27th September, we remember that Jesus was a refugee. Homily by Penny Wearne.

Margaret Lawson and Mark Taylor reflect on life in a world that is so different from the one we are used to. Who imagined the pandemic would last as long as this, and who can tell how much longer it will be with us? Maybe this is the time we all needed to change the way we live to be more careful of our precious planet and be more caring of each other.

This weeks homilist Rosalie Toney is a retired school teacher and holds a Master's in language and literacy. She will be discussing how literacy empowers and how important it is in everyone's life.

Covid 19 has taught us one thing: that as a species, once we are in a crisis, we can act fast and change our habits and treat a crisis as a crisis. This weekend Terry Fitzpatrick will be speaking about the most important thing we can do in the global warming crisis we are now experiencing.

Liz Little will be reflecting on the Mary and Martha gospel story. She will be inviting us to find the balance in our lives between 'acting' and 'being'.

While it is true that we are all in this together, we are also experiencing very different ways of living, both from pre-virus times compared to now. For some it is a cosy time or battening down in a comfortable cave, for others it is a nightmare with no apparent end.

Our homily this week is a reflection by Br. David Steindl-Rast. He speaks of gratitude as the source of joy in our lives. While we cannot be grateful for everything that happens; we can be grateful at every moment. We can respond by trusting life, without fear.
